Talk about an easy pattern to make!! THREE pattern pieces including the small piece for neck binding. It came together so quick and easy and is comfortable and looks pretty good!(if I do say so myself :)
To be honest, the only reason that I bought this pattern is because I found it on Pattern Review’s end-of-the-year Top 10 patterns. The line art really shows the style of the dress, which is a little harder to see on the model. I won’t pretend I was independently drawn to this pattern; I don’t think I would have ever taken a second look at this pattern if it weren’t for the absolutely fabulous reviews.
I used a ponte knit from fabricmartfabrics by Maggy London. (Psst – it’s still available and on sale! This fabric is so soft and comfortable – buy some now!). Made a straight size 12 and it fits! I really like the fabric for this dress because I know it is something I’ll wear often and can easily dress up or down – but the fabric isn’t the best at showing any of the style lines/seams in the back. Oh well, I’ll choose a different fabric next time.
Dan got a new DSLR camera (Nikon D5200)! So we’ve been having a grand ole’ time learning how to use it and take good pictures, which means I had a LOT of pictures to sort through in this dress.
After this first photoshoot we realized the lighting was sub-optimal and moved outside the next afternoon. The lighting is perfect for the pictures – not as good for my eyes. Don’t look close, my eyes are closed in many of them!
